My reasons have slightly changed but here are the most honest reasons why I want to be fit.
1. Performance
I want to be at my peak. I want to be at the most athletic I can be.
In the beginning when I was first starting to work out in my late teens it was to help me perform better at
B-boying/Break-dancing. Then when I got into Martial arts at 2011-2012 it was to perform better at martial arts.
Now it hits the whole spectrum, I want to be at my fittest when I dance which it's been a while since I danced to perform at my peak when I'm defending myself.. Which is why I study and still study and love to help people get fit.
2. Looks
This is by far the vainest, self-centered one. And the 2nd reason is because of looks. To be honest, I think this reason is a big reason why people workout or it's in their top 2! Sure, it should be health, or to keep what you got but I think it encourages more people inside themselves to say:
"I'm working out for those abs/butt/leg/arms/chest!"
" I want to look like my version of Chris hemsworth, Wesley snipes in his prime, Bruce Lee, Scarlet Johansson, J.Lo, Gal Gadot, etc!"
Or reverse
" I got kill this gut, saggy butt, wimpy arms!"
Then to go " I want to be as healthy as possible!" It comes with the territory, but the main motivations are still at the top.
But the thing I"m trying to get to is that you must know yourself and know what reasons your doing this thing, this journey to be a fitter, and healthier you. And if looks is a motivating factor, use it! If performance, Health, testing yourself is a motivating factor, USE IT! But make sure that those reasons compel you to go down this road. No matter how long it takes or how tired you feel. Because if you have a good enough reason, a strong reason that you can connect too, that will get you far!!!
